Information for Visitors
Admission
- The Admission form has to be filled in the OPD.
- Visit the Blood bank to fill the Blood donation form.
- If you have a common blood group like A+, B+ or 0+, arrange for 6 donors from any of these groups.
- If you have a rare blood group like AB+, AB- or O-, then arrange for at least 6 donors from the same group as yours. We will also help you!
- Please report to the Admission Counter on the date given. Your file will be available there.
- If you decide to defer the date of surgery then please do inform well in advance to ensure another date.
- Please ensure that you have stopped taking Aspirin, Clopidogrel, Acitrome, warfarin etc, well before admission.
Rooms
- Choose," the category of your room/ward. It is difficult to make a change after the surgery has been scheduled.
- Patients requiring admission in CCU are not entitled to Economy wards package deal.
Payment
- Full payment will have to be made at the time of admission. A delay in payment means a delay in surgery.
- Any extended stay in the room/ward will be on an additional charge.
- If a neurological, gastro-intestinal, urological, or renal problem is identified or develops after admission, the services of the concerned consultant and/or treatment thereof will be charged. The Heart surgery package does not include brain, kidney, abdominal or skin treatment.
- Sometimes it is necessary to assist the weakened heart for 2-3 days with an external pump called Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP).
- In case IABP is inserted as a life saving measure or any imported drugs are used, they shall be on extra charges.
- In case a "cell saver" is used, an extra charge will be levied.
- In case the Heart-Lung machine is used the package for "On pump" surgery will apply.
On Admission
One or two days before the surgery the doctors will examine you to detect any findings that may not have been recorded earlier. The doctor on duty will record all your complaints and duration of symptoms. Please do not withhold any information, however minor. You will be allowed to read the history if you wish to, as the case sheet is a legal document
What the doctor needs to know
About the medicines you have taken inthe last 2 years. About the medicines you are taking now, with their duration. Whether you are allergic to any substance such as drugs, food etc. About incidents connected with your heart condition or any other physical, mental or emotional problem. Family history of diabetes, hypertension or heart disease.
