PadmaShri Dr Kamal K. Sethi received his training in Maulana Azad Medical College. New Delhi and associated LNJP and GB Pant Hospital, M.B.B.S., M.D., DM. from 1967 to 1979. He started his career as a pool officer in Cardiology in the Affiliated G.B. Pant Hospital and rose to become the Professor of Cardiology in the same hospital.
He has been one of the pioneers who has developed and established coronary angioplasty and cardiac electrophysiology in India. He was trained in advanced cardiology techniques at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne in Australia in 1985 and St. George's Medical School. London in 1991. He is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology.
He has received a large number of awards including Dr. D.P. Basu Young Investigator award of Cardiological Society of India-1981, Scarle Award in 1983, Award of Excellence in Cardiac Pacing in 1985, Avadhak Shri Award in 1993, Swami Vivekanand Award-1994 for service to Medical Profession. Dr. B.C.Roy Memorial Doctors State Award of Govt. of Delhi in 1998, National Award for Excellence in Medicine 1999.
